Our Wines

In addition to providing grants, Markham Vineyards produces two single-vineyard, limited production Estate Cabernet Sauvignon wines appropriately named The Philanthropist and The Altruist in honor of the grant recipients. To celebrate and raise awareness of each, project information is highlighted on the back labels of these wines.
The inaugural 2006 vintage of The Philanthropist and The Altruist were created to highlight the recipients of the 2008 Mark of Distinction grants, the Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine, KS, and Table to Table in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.
In fall 2010, the 2007 vintage of The Philanthropist and The Altruist was released to honor the 2009 Mark of Distinction grant recipients, Long Island Sled Hockey and Paul Ruby Foundation.
The 2008 vintage, featuring the 2010 grant recipients Erie Alert and The New Freret, will be released in Fall 2011.
In the fall of 2012, the 2009 vintage of The Philanthropist and The Altruist wines will be released to honor the 2011 Mark of Distinction grant recipients, East Side Heart & Home and Operation: Connect Kids to the Outdoors.
