Christie Jeffers

Known for creating empowering choreography for both disabled and non-disabled performers, Heidi Latsky's Educational Dance Project will engage learning disabled students from The Aaron Academy in New York City to create an original dance piece with students.  The dance will be performed throughout Manhattan at schools for both disabled and non-disabled students, their teachers and parents.  The $25,000 Markham Mark of Distinction will support this project and post-performance "talk-backs" with the audiences, focused on how society perceives, and often misunderstands, disability.
